Cottonwood Canyon Fire Mitigation Project

Portions of Cottonwood Canyon have become so overgrown we have been forewarned by the fire department that the department will not drive their equipment up the canyon for fear of it getting trapped in the event of a fire.  This presents a risk to ALL residents of the ranch as Cottonwood is a primary evacuation route.

Beginning Friday March 6 & Saturday March 7 and the next 4 weeks on Friday & Saturdays through (April 3, 4) from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, we are looking for volunteers to help with the mitigation efforts.  We will meet on those days at the Windmill to divide up the work duties and record your work efforts for Fire Wise reporting (thanks Michelle).

We will focus on the stretch between Elk Park Road and Hiddenwood Lane.

We will need volunteers to:

Cut brush/small trees (Chain saws, lopping shears, hand-saws, whatever you feel comfortable with - provide your own).  There only a couple larger trees that need removal so if you are comfortable doing that let me know.

Any and all help will be appreciated by the community.

Please let me know if and when you are able to participate, so we can plan accordingly.  You can reach me via email at or my phone/voice mail at 763-350-0565.  Please make your neighbors aware.

Thank You,
