Moisture begets moisture, so quit begetting already!!! It's the 10th of April and yet another big snow event is in progress and all of the ski areas are closed or close today (I had to throw that in). While we have had no 5-foot snowfalls this winter, we have had about 6 of these "minor" two foot dumps. This is our NOAA warning at 5 pm Sunday night…

Blizzard Warning

...DANGEROUS EARLY SEASON SPRING STORM CONTINUES ACROSS COLORADO...

A STRONG STORM SYSTEM WILL CONTINUE TO BRING HEAVY SNOWS TO THE SOUTHEAST COLORADO MOUNTAINS...ALONG WITH BLIZZARD CONDITIONS AT TIMES FOR THE INTERSTATE 25 CORRIDOR...THROUGH TONIGHT. A COMBINATION OF HEAVY SNOW AND VERY STRONG WINDS WILL COMBINE TO PRODUCE WHITE OUT CONDITIONS WITH DIFFICULT TO IMPOSSIBLE DRIVING CONDITIONS EXPECTED…CONTINUING INTO MONDAY MORNING. THIS IS A DANGEROUS STORM...WITH 1 TO 2 FEET OF SNOW POSSIBLE FOR THE MOUNTAIN AREAS. FAVORED AREAS MAY RECEIVE UP TO 3 FEET OF SNOW...ESPECIALLY ALONG NORTHEAST FACING SLOPES. A WIDE RANGE OF SNOW AMOUNTS WILL BE POSSIBLE FOR THE ADJACENT INTERSTATE 25 CORRIDOR DUE TO BLOWING AND DRIFTING WITH SNOWFALL AMOUNTS VARYING FROM 4 TO 18 INCHES ALONG WITH SOME LOCALLY HIGHER SNOW AMOUNTS. SNOW DRIFTS FROM 3 TO 6 FEET OR MORE CAN BE EXPECTED IN THE AREAS THAT RECEIVE HEAVY SNOWFALL.

THIS BLIZZARD WARNING IS FOR THE INTERSTATE 25 CORRIDOR FROM MONUMENT TO RATON PASS. THIS WARNING INCLUDES THE CITIES OF COLORADO SPRINGS...PUEBLO...WALSENBURG AND TRINIDAD.

The power has been on and off since noon. Interstate 25 is closed from Pueblo to Raton. Our road contractor has been here since yesterday afternoon preparing his equipment and even staying in a hotel in town last night so they can be here to dig us out…over and over. With the blowing snow, I imagine that it will take several passes to keep our major roads open. I would say that we have around 18-24 inches and it is still coming down and drifting. Yesterday it was 70 degrees, now it is 25. The good new is that it is supposed to clear up and Tuesday it will be back to 60 degrees. WELCOME TO COLORADO!!!

Here are some shots I took this afternoon………

And that's what Bandit thinks about this whole thing!!!
