Gallinas Bridge Progress

These photos show the removal of the flatcar bridge.  The crane set the manlift down in the creek bottom so it could be used to access the underneath of the flatcars in order to cut the ties loose between cars.  One picture shows the upper ties being cut with a cutting torch.  There were 4 slots cut in the flatcar decks in order to pass steel chokers beneath the car bolsters to use the strongest lifting point.  The crane set each car on its own trailer, the same as were used to transport the concrete girders.  The trucks and trailers were parked on the East side awaiting CDOT permitting to travel North.  The center tower was lifted out by the crane and set by the trucks.  Demolition began on the abutments and will continue for most of the next week.
