Every evening brings us a spectacular, unique sunset  over the the Spanish Peaks or the Sangre De Christo  mountains. Never is it the same.  Those of us that are early risers can see beautiful sun rises over Fishers Peak and the Raton Mesa.

About Santa Fe Trail Ranch

Santa Fe Trail Ranch is a covenant protected, private community,  It is protected  with by-laws that are voted upon by the residents and land owners and have covenants that serve the best interest of the residents and land owners. We take pride in our community and protect it and care for it every day.  All share a sense of responsibility and care for our land.  We are blessed to be a part of this community and we do our best to preserve the nature, solitude, stewardship, community, friendship  and wildlife the Ranch has to offer.  If you are a visitor, please respect the community we have here.

Santa Fe Trail Ranch (SFTR) is south of Trinidad, Colorado near the Colorado/New Mexico state line. The entrance is west of Interstate 25 exit 6, just north of Raton Pass. SFTR covers approximately 16,800 acres and ranges in elevation from 6,500 to 8,100 feet. All 454 of the 35 acre parcels are privately owned, and homes have been built on about half of them. Approximately six to eight new homes are being built each year. Eighty-three (83) miles of reasonably good dirt and gravel roads, maintained by the property owners association, provide year-round access. There is a very active property owner’s association guiding many of the activities on the Ranch. SFTR includes a Nature Conservancy greenbelt along Gallinas Canyon and is just across I-25 from the 19,200 acre Fishers Peak State Park, Colorado's newest state park, set to open in 2021. It is just a few miles from the city of Trinidad and provides mountain living combined with city amenities. SFTR is within the Fishers Peak Fire Protection District, and has a fire station on the ranch. SFTR is a working ranch, and cattle graze from spring to fall each year. Owners can fence out livestock with an approved four-wire fence.
