How To Recycle On The Ranch -

"Future Generations Recycling - Great Service For SFTR"

During the last POA Board Meeting, August 3rd 2024, Jean Busch made a small announcement about a recycling service here on the Ranch that she uses and highly recommends. Several individuals expressed interest in finding out more so we thought this post might be helpful.

FGR is a locally owned and operated curb side recycling pick-up service. The y come to the Ranch every month on the second Monday at 9:00am down at the Mail Box / Parking Area on Fishers Peak Parkway (the one close to the bridge).

Jean has done some research on this small locally owned company and has found some great information about where your recycling goes once you hand it off to them. No, it does not go into a land fill but is actually sorted and distributed to serveral Recycling Centers in Colorado where it is processed.

Here is what she found out:

Ever wonder where your recycled material goes? We can tell you!

We work with Clean Valley Recycling out of La Junta. And they help us track where everything goes.
Glass goes to Coors Miller and made into brown beer bottles.
#1 Clear plastics go to Summersville, GA and are made into carpet.
#2 Colored plastics go to Kentucky. They are chipped and turned into detergent jugs, underground pipe, decking material and outdoor furniture
#5 Plastics go to Denver and are turned into storage bins
Paper goes to Muskogee, OK and turned into tissue paper
Newspaper goes to Penrose, CO and is turned into insulation
Aluminum goes to a broker in LaJunta. It is melted down, turned back into cans and back in the shelf in about 60 days!!
And finally, shredded paper goes to our compost piles and chicken coops!

We hope this information is of value to you and encourages you to help keep our Ranch and our State clean and healthy by being responsible and recycling.
